A message from Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Steve’s passing one year ago today was a sad and difficult time for all of us. I hope that today everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place.

One of the greatest gifts Steve gave to the world is Apple. No company has ever inspired such creativity or set such high standards for itself. Our values originated from Steve and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple. We share the great privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future. 

I'm incredibly proud of the work we are doing, delivering products that our customers love and dreaming up new ones that will delight them down the road. It’s a wonderful tribute to Steve’s memory and everything he stood for.

미국의 철강왕 카네기의 어린 시절 일화입니다.

어느날, 카네기가 공사 현장을 지나가다 현장소장에게 다가가 물었습니다.

"아저씨, 이 건물이 뭐예요?"

"앞으로 백화점도 들어오고 회사도 들어올 거란다."

"와 멋지다. 아저씨처럼 훌륭한 사람이 되려면 어떻게 해야 돼요?

"어, 그건 말이야 부지런해야 해"

"그건 저도 알아요. 그거 말고 뭐 다른 거 없니요?

"으음. 그래 너한테만 알려주마. 빨간옷을 입으렴."

"빨간 옷을요? 그게 무슨 말씀이세요?"

현장소장은 조금 떨어진곳에서 일하는 인부들을 가리키며 말했습니다.

"자 보렴. 저기서 일하는 사람들은 하나같이 칙칙한 남색 옷을 입고 있지? 그런데 저 사람은 빨간옷을 입고 있단다. 저 사람은 다른 사람하고 별 다를게 없지만 옷 색깔 때문에 늘 내 시선을 끌지, 조만간 나는 저 사람을 부소장으로 임명하려고 한단다."
